About
I am a lexicographer of science words for the Oxford English Dictionary, having a background in physics, the history of science, and bookselling. As such, most of these posts are likely to be about language, science and computing, or a combination of these things. I am a happy user of the Oxford comma.
Working for the OED, a fair few of these posts are likely to feature links to entries from its online version. Controversially for something on the Internet, access is not free to all, but most university students (and perhaps other type of student too) will be able to access the dictionary via Athens or their university’s remote access service. Many others in the UK will be able to get free access from home through their local library’s subscription, as detailed here. Even if it’s just to look up the swear words, it’s well worth doing so.
